The Lion of St.Mark

This programme recreates the spectacular antiphonal sounds of St Mark’s Basilica in Venice at the time of Gabrieli and Monteverdi. His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts explore the rich and dazzling variety of ceremonial music of several maestri associated with the Doge’s chapel, including the beautiful music of minor masters such as Giovanni Battista Grillo and Giovanni Priuli.
