UFUK DÖRDÜNCÜ | BAHAR DÖRDÜNCÜ | PHILIPPE SPIESSER | SEBASTIEN CORDIER
The MAKROKOSMOS quartet consists of the pianists Ufuk and Bahar Dördüncü as well as the percussionists Philippe Spiesser and Sébastien Cordier. The quartet owes its name to the cycles of works composed by George Crumb, which was featured in the programme of the quartet's very first performance together.
After performing together as seperate artists numerous times, with the two pianists as a duo "Duo Dördüncü" and the percussionists as soloists; the four musicians decided to join forces - starting their career as a quartet by playing Sonata for 2 Pianos and Percussion by Bélà Bartok.
MAKROKOSMOS has performed a variety of music, including several works by Stefano Gervasoni, X. Dayer, S. Wirth, G. Gregorio, I. Fedele, N. Baertch; recorded under the label "Hathut Records".
