String quartets by Beethoven and Philip Glass.i Writing a string quartet is looked upon as the ultimate proof of a composer’s skill, with Beethoven’s quartets as the golden reference; you will hear two of them in this concert. Philip Glass follows in Beethoven’s footsteps with his Second String Quartet, originally written as incidental music for a play by Samuel Beckett.

Songs for alto (Carina Vinke) and guitar (Jacob Kellerman) by Schubert, Wolf and De Falla. A song recital with classic masterpieces by Schubert and Wolf, accompanied on a guitar, as the composers often heard them performed. Spanish folk songs, in settings by Manuel de Falla, complete the summer atmosphere in the garden.
