MOZART Violin Concerto No 3 ~ BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto no 1 __________ Alexander Janiczek has had a long association with both the Scottish Chamber Orchestra of which he is Associate Artist, and with the acclaimed pianist Llŷr Williams, with whom he has performed often in orchestral and recital programmes which have included the complete cycles of Brahms and Beethoven violin sonatas. Alexander also, since his early career in his hometown of Salzburg, has had a close relationship with the music of Beethoven and Mozart. Alexander's great teacher was the legendary Sándor Végh - a profound and formative mentor to the young artist and, as a result, from the very start of his career, Alexander has been both directing orchestras as well as performing solo in the great music of Mozart and Beethoven, even performing, under Végh's baton, the Beethoven Violin Concerto at the Salzburg Festival. Alexander has several highly acclaimed CDs for Linn Records on which he directs the SCO in the music of Mozart. Alexander Janiczek Discography This journey with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra starts in November 2014 and will continue over the next two seasons taking Alexander & Llŷr across the country for what will be a remarkable experience with a very special partnership of musicians totally in tune with each other and the music that they will bring to they audiences. Alexander and Llŷr will also have duo recitals during these years, including the greatest concert halls such as Salzburg's famous Mozarteum and London's Wigmore Hall. Piano design | Pleyel by Peugeot Design Lab
The Peugeot Design Lab launched in 2012 in Paris with the objective to design non-automotive products that change the conceptions of the object. They approached Pleyel Pianos to be their first partners and together they created a piano, which has the potential to revolutionise the world of piano manufacturing. The piano has been designed and built to achieve unprecedented musical quality. Its major innovation is the lowering of the chord mechanism to line up perfectly with the keyboard. The pianist can hear the sound of the instrument with incomparable precision. And, at the same time, the audience can see the pianist playing from every conceivable angle. __________ LIVE : See Vanessa next in recital and concertos at the Kings Place, Lyddington, Ibiza, Israel and more … on CD : Vanessa has 2 CDs available : A Liszt Recital & Introducing Vanessa Benelli Mossel - Virtuoso Piano music __________ for more information on Vanessa Benelli Mosell : Website : Vanessa Benelli Mosell General Management (worldwide) - LoganArts Management Local Management (Austria) - Künstlermanagement Till Dönch PR - WildKat PR |

Imagination Unchained - Magnus Lindberg Portrait
Thursday May 15th 2014, 20.15 Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ Friday May 16th 2014, 20.30 The Hague, Korzo Theater This season Magnus Lindberg is the New European Ensemble’s composer in residence. In a project that started in the autumn of 2013, Lindberg travels to The Netherlands again to attend rehearsals and concerts in Amsterdam and The Hague in which the Ensemble present his most important works for large ensemble.
Magnus Lindberg, from Finland, is regarded as one of our time’s major composers. His compositions are performed by the world’s leading orchestras, ensembles and conductors. Lindberg’s music is superbly crafted, energetic, colourful and appeals to a broad audience. Magnus Lindberg, composer in residence Magnus Lindberg is composer in residence for the New European Ensemble, a group praised in de Volkskrant for its ‘exemplary performances’. Just recently Lindberg was commissioned to write new works for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and appeared as a prominent guest in the Holland Festival. Both the New York and London Philharmonic Orchestras invited him to be their composer in residence. Lindberg is a brilliant sound magician. All over the world he captivates audiences with his music, which is rich in contrasts and evokes colourful imagery. New European Ensemble will present his most important large ensemble works. Lindberg's ensemble works In Souvenir for 18 musicians Lindberg pays tribute to his teacher Gérard Grisey, the French composer who explored new sound worlds. Lindberg follows successfully in his footsteps with this masterpiece, written for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. NEuE presents the Dutch premiere of this magically well-orchestrated piece on a truly symphonic scale. Jubilees are orchestrations of six piano pieces, created for the 75th birthday of Pierre Boulez. Arena II was inspired by the late romantic symphonic style of Mahler, Berg and Sibelius; it is a captivating piece where tension builds up to an overwhelming climax. In the work Corrente Lindberg explored the character from a baroque dance bearing the same name. This is a composition with a strong drive and rich ornaments. Also on the programme: a newly commissioned work by Peter-Jan Wagemans, a song cycle by Esa-Pekka Salonen – Lindberg’s close friend and kindred spirit – and a twentieth-century classic: Chain I by the Polish composer Witold Lutosławski. |

3 World Premieres! Annelies has had a busy few months with 3 world premieres! Firstly, her arrangement of Canteloube's ravishing Chants d'Auvergne was performed by Oxalys & Claire Lefiliâtre in Amuz, Antwerp in April 2014, promising to be as much of a 'miracle' as her sensational arrangement of Debussy's Pelleas. On the 11th of May, her next commission, Sussurri dell’Ombra, will see its world premiere at Amuz, performed by the Royal Flemish Philharmonic | DeFilharmonie, conducted by Jacob Slagter - a partner piece for Stravinsky's masterpiece Symphonies of Wind Instruments. Annelies new work for winds and brass is already attracting interest from other orchestras - even before the premiere. To top off this list of world premieres : Konzertstück, a blazing new festive 'overture', commissioned by the National Orchestra of Belgium, will be premiered on the 21st of June, at BOZAR in Brussels. So, three great new works from three of the leading Belgian ensembles ! All this whilst preparing for her Poïèma with Els Mondelaers to premiere at the Potsdam Musikfestspiele Sanssouci on Jun 22 and continuing work on her exciting new opera for Muziektheater Transparant and others. L'allégorie de la caverne (2011-2012) (11’) for orchestra Striving to maintain the balance between visceral inspiration and intuition, one fundamental principle of the music of Stylianos Dimou is the conception of structure as a fluid and sculpted entity that can be conceived as a by-product of microscopic manipulation of the timbral and gestural dimensions of music. Blurred sonorities, harmonic fluidity and gestural formation are some of the ideas that he is elaborating on in his recent works. L'allégorie de la caverne is a piece for orchestra composed in 2011-2012. The construction of the piece is based on the sequence of characteristic fragments, all based on distinct harmonic elements that share similar intervallic properties. The manipulation of the harmonic spectrum is manifested by two ideas: The first one is related to static harmonic fields and I am trying to project different instances of the same harmonic material by elaborating on the texture and the timbral/sonic aspects of the harmony. The second idea is related to a sequence of different harmonic cells, where are all presented adjacently into the orchestral spectrum, highlighting a gradual harmonic progression in the mactrostructural organization of the piece. What unifies the various harmonic fields of the piece is the intervallic properties that all of them share. The resulted effect is a gradual metamorphosis of either “sound” or “harmony” while the dramaturgical discourse is unfolded. L'allégorie de la caverne Written for and the winning composition for [‘tactus] Young Composers' Forum, Brussels, 2013. Wayne Brewster Barlow Prize from the Eastman School of Music, 2012. First orchestral reading by the Eastman Philharmonia. Premiered by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Michel Tabachnik, Oct 2013. Instrumentation: 2 Flutes, 2 Oboe, 2 Clarinet in Bb, 2 Bassoons / 2 Horn in F, 2 Trumpets in Bb, 1 Trombone / Timpani / 3 Percussionists / Harp / (Piano – Celesta) / Violins I (12), Violins II (10), Violas (9), Cellos (8), Double Basses (4). A Pretence of Wit (2010) (8' 30")
Five Settings of W. B. Yeats for Soprano and Piano 1. The Dawn - 2. The Hawk - 3. To his Heart, bidding it have no Fear - 4. To a Squirrel at Kyle-na-no - 5. In the Seven Woods A Pretence of Wit by Edward Nesbit sets five poems of W.B. Yeats which deal in different ways with the subject of nature and man's relationship to it. 'The Dawn' and 'In the Seven Woods', the two songs which frame the cycle, celebrate nature and suggest that the thoughts and actions of human beings are trivial by comparison. 'The Hawk' and 'To a Squirrel at Kyle-na-no' are shorter, more light-hearted songs which portray the eponymous animals in a more literal pictorial way. At the centre of the cycle, and at its expressive heart, lies 'To his Heart, Bidding it have no Fear', a slow song which expresses awe at the majesty of the natural world. Although the theme of nature runs through the five poems, the songs are musically independent from one another, and the intention was to create the maximum degree of contrast of mood and texture. A Pretence of Wit was shortlisted for the vocal category of the 2013 British Composer Awards The premiere performance was given by Emily Hindrichs and Joseph Middleton at Aldeburgh Church on 20th October 2012. The premiere performance of the revised version was given by Anna Patalong and Elizabeth Rossiter at The Forge, Camden, on 20th November 2012. for chamber ensemble Emma-Ruth Richards' music has been described as “bold, imaginative and inventive” & “highly charged and beautiful”.
